Summer and Winter Care in Cats
Seasonal changes also change your cat's care needs. Things to be considered in summer and winter months are different. Care suitable for the season protects your cat's health and increases its comfort.
Summer Care
- Give fresh water frequently, keep water bowls in the shade
- Create shade and cool areas against sunstroke
- Perform regular brushing against shedding
- Take exercise hours to the morning or evening cool in hot weather
- Provide safety by using screens on windows and balconies
- Do not neglect parasite protection for cats going out
Winter Care
- Provide a warm and windless environment
- You can increase the food amount (energy need increases)
- Prepare a shelter for cats going out, pay attention to the water not freezing
- Dry cats whose hair gets wet immediately
- Use soft beds for joints in cold weather
- Do not neglect brushing even if shedding decreases in winter
Seasonal Risks and Checks
- Be careful against the risk of shedding and parasites in seasonal transitions
- Observe your cat's behaviors in sudden weather changes
- Have a veterinary check at least once a year
